Second World through the eyes of her children: a new American film about Ukrainians
Article from BBC Ukraine
"Boy, who are we going to shoot today - Germans or Russians?" asks a Soviet officer at 5-year-old Bohdan, holding out his gun to his parents' eyes. The year 1944 is coming and the life of the family is literally in the hands of the child.

Baba Babee Skazala in a Ukrainian Weekly Article about DP Camps
The article provides an important perspective on why understanding the history of World War II and the DP Camp experience is relevant today.

Bring On the Story Consultant!
Our team continues to film interviews for the archives at the Ukrainian Museum Archives, Cleveland, Ohio. However, we know that sharing these experiences with a broader audience will be better achieved through film and digital media projects. After searching, we jumped in to working with Karen Everett of New Doc Editing. Karen was an instructor at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism, which has a well-regarded documentary program, so it was a natural fit for our Director, Matej Silecky. Karen's fresh perspective and spot-on scheduling is a great asset to Baba Babee Skazala!

Ukrainian Festival, Whippany, New Jersey
Matej Silecky & Marta Lewko are filming the Iskra Dance Ensemble today at the Ukrainian Festival, Ukrainian Cultural Center, Whippany, New Jersey. Lots of fun - head out there & support a great organization!

A Busy Week in Cleveland, Ohio
Matej Silecky & Evan Yee continued on to Cleveland, Ohio and the surrounding areas, including Parma, Ohio - the Ukrainian Village. Our time in the Cleveland area was jam-packed with interviews, location filming, visits with old friends and a fabulous opportunity to review materials at the Ukrainian Museum-Archives and interview their resident scholar, Andrew Fedynsky. We are very grateful for the support & assistance being provided by the Ukrainian Museum-Archives, and definitely recommend you visit it if you are in the area. You won't be disappointed! Many thanks also to Matej's Babcia for helping with local logistics.
After this hectic week & summer of travel, Evan returned to LA & Matej returned to NJ for the first time in months. It is time to organize our footage & plan filming for the next group of interviews.

Return to Denver
Matej Silecky & Evan Yee returned to Denver, to reunite with interviewees & supporters there. The goal: to learn about collecting mushrooms first hand, while it was in season - an activity learned in Ukraine, continued in Germany & in the United States. While we were working, this activity made for a fun couple of days & we learned so much! Thank yous go out to the Figlus family for making this an awesome adventure!
